Wednesday Lunch Club
Every Wednesday in the Clare Community Centre, (the Old School, Callis Street), CLASP welcomes senior citizens from Clare and the surrounding villages to meet with friends old and new for chats and for the enjoyment of each other’s company. The day starts at about 10.30am and finishes around 3.00pm.

On arrival, morning coffee (or tea) and biscuits is served. At about 12.30 lunch is served. This is a substantial, freshly cooked, three course meal, prepared and cooked in the top (5-Star) hygiene rated kitchen by our qualified volunteer staff. Later in the afternoon, tea (and cake) is served. There is a small charge for the lunch and for participation in a weekly raffle.

For those without transport or with poor mobility, the CLASP minibus is available to pick up and return home, free of charge. We currently collect members from Glemsford, Cavendish, Hundon, Stoke by Clare, and various locations around Clare.
Throughout the day, members can enjoy board games, play cards or do puzzles. We arrange two outings a year to local venues including a garden centre, using the minibus.
The Senior Centre Lunch Club is organised and manned by volunteers who do the shopping, food preparation, cooking, serving and washing up, as well as setting up and clearing away the tables and chairs in both halls.
If you would like to come and see what we do, either as a prospective member or helper, please contact Stella Byrne, Senior Centre Manager, on 07561 115 158, or via e-mail: seniorcentre@clasp-clare.co.uk.
Before becoming our Chairman, Nick Clarke, in his role as West Suffolk Councillor for Clare, Hundon and Kedington, wrote a piece about CLASP following his visit to the Lunch Club in December 2023.
